Okay, lets hear me out for a second.
We’ve all heard it. No carbs after 6pm. Don’t eat after 8pm. Eat 36.67778g protein 23 minutes before going to sleep, and 5 asparagus spears, and also don’t eat dinner later than 3:30pm and live off green tea for the rest of the evening.
Let me present this to you: DID YOU KNOW, that you actually burn more calories whilst in REM sleep than you do sitting in an office for an 8 hour day?
The people that do avoid eating late at night lose weight not because of the timing, but because they are indeed CONSUMING LESS. It really is CALORIES IN VS. CALORIES OUT. Timing does not matter.
For example, today I really didn’t eat that much. I had two eggs scrambled with lots of vegetables on some wholemeal toast for breakfast and then didn’t eat until lunch where I had a wrap with cheese, chicken and salad. Then I just ate a few celery sticks until dinner. It’s 9:35pm and I’m chowing down on my second bowl of icecream and dark chocolate.
Okay okay so that brings me to a whole new topic of IIFYM and clean eating and all of that. But what I am trying to say is, I am eating icecream and chocolate, almost 10pm at night, and I’m still seeing fat loss and muscle mass increase. That isn’t to say that if I stopped eating at 6pm and ate all my food earlier that I’d see worse results, I’m just trying to show you that eating late at night isn’t the ‘devil’ and won’t make you ‘fat’. Please guys.
